Data Collection & Sources
All flights and fleet data analysis is carried out by WINGX Advance through our proprietary harvesting of multiple data sources. We use advanced data verification, cleaning and processing methodology, database query logic, and integration of analytics into our reports, datasets and dashboards to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Our systems continuously integrate multiple sources to:
Validate information across different sources
Fill gaps where single sources may be incomplete

How Current is the Data?
WINGX tracks live activity of all aircraft, with our most frequent reporting currently 24-48 hours lagging.
What this means:
A flight that occurred on Monday will typically appear in your dashboard by Wednesday
Most data is available within 24 hours
Why the lag? This processing time allows us to verify data accuracy across multiple sources, match flights to operators correctly, and ensure data quality standards are met.

Daily Tracker - Updates daily with day-to-day flight activity, enabling any specific days to be compared
Historical analysis - Available for any date since January 2019
US and European Trends - Provide aviation data covering the last 20 years for long-term market analysis

How We Derive Key Metrics
Aircraft Homebase Determination
Method:
Analyze the last 12 months (L12M) of aircraft activity based on your selected time period
Calculate the share of departures from each airport
Assign the airport with the largest share as the aircraft's homebase
Special Cases:
Fractional fleets - Marked as "Floating" (no fixed homebase)
Branded Charter - Marked as "Floating" (no fixed homebase)
Note: In Homebased Metrics module and Create Report module, ALL tails are assigned to an airport homebase (floating tail activity is integrated).
Flight Measurements
All flight measurements are wheels up to wheels down (actual flight time, not gate/block time):
Distance Classifications:
Measured in nautical miles (nm)
Ranges from <100nm local trips to >8,000nm intercontinental flights
500nm bands capture typical regional operations
Sector Length Classifications:
Measured in time duration
Starting at 0-30 minute intervals for local flights
Progressing through 1-2 hour regional segments
Up to 5+ hours for extended international operations
Parking Data
WINGX measures time on the ground between arrival and departure for all aircraft to show:
Ground-stay periods (how long aircraft remain at airports)
Parking requirements based on aircraft dimensions
Hangarage needs based on MTOW and wing dimensions
Handling Volumes
WINGX tracks each movement with respect to:
MTOW (Maximum Takeoff Weight) of the aircraft
Wing dimensions (span and area)
From this, we identify indicative handling volumes and revenues.
Utilisation & Engagement
Hours Utilisation:
Total Flight Hours ÷ Number of Active Aircraft = Hours per Aircraft
Fleet Engagement:
(Active Aircraft ÷ Total Fleet) × 100 = % Fleet Engagement

Trend Calculations
YOY (Year-over-Year) Trend:
((Current Period - Same Period Last Year) ÷ Same Period Last Year) × 100
YTD (Year-to-Date) Trend:
((YTD Current Year - YTD Previous Year) ÷ YTD Previous Year) × 100
Rolling 7-Day Average:
Sum of Last 7 Days Activity ÷ 7 = Daily Average
Also shows YOY change for the 7-day period
Emissions Calculations
Fuel Emissions:
Calculated from sectors flown
Measured in US Gallons (USG) of Jet A1 fuel
Based on aircraft type, distance, and flight profile
CO2 Emissions:
Calculated from fuel uplift
Measured in tonnes of CO2
Fuel per Departure:
Average fuel consumption per flight
Data Accuracy & Limitations
"Under Research" Status for Operators
What it means: We've identified the aircraft and flight activity, but haven't yet confirmed the operating entity.
Why this happens:
New aircraft entering service
Aircraft recently transferred between operators
Complex ownership structures requiring additional research
Known Data Limitations
Age Classification:
Some age classifications remain under research for refinement
Unknown Age category exists for incomplete data
